THE LIGHT
OF THE WORLD
I was born in Jerusalem and grew up there, when I was 26 we moved to live in
Sao Paulo, Brasil. this painting I painted when I lived in Brasil, inspired by the verse: " Jerusalem is the light of the world"(Midrash Raba)
I will try to explain here in a few words my understanding of this concept:
So why is Jerusalem the light of the world?
Is not the sun the light of the world?
Firstly, we need to understand the concept of light from its contrast, the darkness, because light is what allows us to understand what happens around us so that we won't fall.
Just as the physical light directs us and helps us find our way, we need spiritual light as well, so we won't fail in our mission in life.
And this spiritual light comes from Jerusalem, "Because from Zion shall come forth the Torah and the word of G-d from Jerusalem"
